Leah, David, Brad & I are excited to launch the "Friends for a Cure" campaign to show our love for a special lady, Janice Powell. Each of us have a special connection to Janice: for two of us, she's our second mom; for others, she's a neighbor, a close friend, a fellow Southminster teacher, "DeeCee", a childhood friend, your Miss Alabama "Pageant Mom", a Bunco partner, or a walking buddy at the Hoover Rec. . . No matter our unique connection, we ALL share a common prayer: complete and total healing!
Janice is receiving the BEST care at UAB - what a blessing it is to live in a city with world-class physicians, surgeons, oncologists, nurses, and technicians. Her team of doctors are truly a gift from God!
As friends and family, we all want to help . . . whether its daily prayer, a note of encouragement, or a home-cooked meal - we want to help Janice in her fight against cancer. Our goal in launching this campaign is to offer another outlet for loved ones to support Janice and her family. "Friends for a Cure" has one purpose: to raise money for UAB Comprehensive Cancer Center. ALL OF THE MONEY raised in this campaign will be donated to UAB in honor of Janice and will go directly to brain research.
Our plan is to host events, raffles, a golf tournament and a Mercedes Marathon / Half Marathon running team to raise $50,000 for UAB Comprehensive Cancer Center.
